Occupation?

Yoga Instructor, Dance Artist and teacher

What sparked your interest in yoga, Pilates, barre and/or functional fitness?

I've been dancing all my life and like so many other dancers, yoga was the natural progression for maintenance of my body. I'd been curious about meditation and spirituality since a young age and so as I discovered more about yoga it became everything that I already "believed in" as far as a holistic practice is concerned.

Why did you decide to start teaching these practices?

I'd been teaching dance for a while and incorporated yoga postures into my dance class warmups so doing a yoga teacher training seemed like a good way to understand more about the practice as a whole. But after teacher training I just started sharing yoga with anyone who was interested in learning it and gradually started teaching more formally around Brooklyn. Soon enough I was just teaching a lot of weekly classes and its become a bigger part of my life than I think I had ever imagined.

What fuels your inspiration and creativity?

Everything.... My own body and the way it likes or doesn't like to move, my students, the chaos of the world, finding humility always, getting out of my own head, finding ways to feel better in the body I have and sharing those ways with all types of bodies.

Favorite pose or workout?

Yoga.... I can't pick just one Pigeon, Balancing Half Moon, Fish pose with a block.

Favorite jams to listen to while teaching?

AHH so many.... always Bob Marley, but lately Zoe Keating and Houses

Favorite affirmation and or/quote?

We are made of so much love, it's just a matter of uncovering it.

Favorite “healthy” treat?

Hummus

Wellness is important to you because…?

....I have been equipped with a body and mind to see and experience this world so I mine as well treat them both well and enjoy myself!

Three words to describe yourself today?

Energized, Open, Curious.

Uganda

South Asia and Peru

You feel most ecstatic and confident when you are?

Cooking food, teaching yoga, dancing

Three words that describe your style?

Comfy Hippie Yogi (its all too stereotypical but its true)

What challenges have you grown from and overcome while teaching and/or practicing yoga, barre, Pilates or functional fitness?

I can't please everyone, I am learning more and more everyday and even still I won't have all the answers, patience is everything.

ICE CREAM (gelato from the spot on 5th ave and 4th st.)

Happiness is…?

Acceptance/gratitude in who you are.

Last movie you saw in theaters…?

I rarely go to the theater....Maybe Star Wars (the newest one that came out)

What brings you the most joy?

Floating in the ocean, my cats, cooking, good conversation, moving my body.
